How often should you drain your hot tub
The Spa Cleaning Professionals on our team use a formula to establish when your spa have the water replaced and deep cleaned.
Gallons of water your spa holds divided by 3 (three). Take that number and divide by the average daily user load. This answer represents the number of days between draining and deep cleaning your hot tub.
Example of Hot Tub Water Exchange Formula: When you have a 500 gallon hot tub that you and your partner use on a daily basis, you would divide 500 by 3. Then divide your answer, 166.66 gallons by 2 to receive your 83 days. In this example, the owner should change the water about every 83 days or three months.

Below are just some of the problems we have helped our clients troubleshoot with our maintenance services.
Why do I have foam in my hot tub?
Your hot tub is much smaller than the ocean but can still make foam. The Cliff Notes version of the causes of spa foam are an increased ratio of surfactants. Examples of surfactants can include makeup, hair care products, laundry detergent, deodorant, spilled beverages, sunscreen, etc. Even the cleanest and clearest hot tubs will contain some surfactants. When those amounts begin to multiply the oils left behind from previous soaks mix with the water. The reduced surface tension coupled with the jets of your spa are paired perfectly to generate foam for days.
The best way to remove and avoid hot tub foam is regular and thorough maintenance. Showering before a soak in the hot tub is also very helpful in reducing the amount personal care products that are introduced into your spa water. Maintaining regular spa services will also prove to prolong the quality and life of your hot tub.
Why won’t my spa get hot?
There is nothing worse than have had one of those days. You come home with the intention of letting your day melt away with a relaxing soak in your hot tub. Only when you pull back the cover you are slapped with the reality of cold water. If you are a DIY kind of person, we would like to encourage you to also keep safety at the front of your mind. Using a digital multimeter with Ohm Volt Amp and Diode Voltage Meter will help to verify that power is reaching the hot tub properly.
Since there are a number of possible causes to a failure to heat, we troubleshoot this issue for our clients frequently. Our team of spa professionals are experts in maintenance and repair of your hot tub. Replacement of heater elements, water pumps, filters, thermostat, and heat sensors are all in our wheelhouse.
How to fix my hot tub jets? Mine aren’t working
We took a unofficial poll and many people agree that the best part of a hot tub soak are those powerful jets. If you are among the group of spa owners that encounter this frustrating problem, we feel your disappointment and frustration. If you have already turned each jet in order to verify they are clean from any debris and wide open as well as checked your plumbing for line clogs and still are at a loss, it may be time to call for a service. In addition, we would like to advise against using any kind of plunger on your hot tub. Tiktok is killing hot tub jets. Don’t be another victim. We know that you have a lot of choices when asking a professional to clean and repair your hot tub. Classic Pool Spa and Hearth would be humbled to be your spa service provider of choice.
Still have questions? We have answers.
